An important life lesson from Ted Lasso

For those of you that are close to me, it is no secret that Ted Lasso is one of my favorite TV shows. It is an Emmy Winning comedy on Apple TV+ featuring Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso.

I am about to spoil a scene from season 1 episode 8 so if you haven't watched until that point, watch the show! It is incredibly funny with interesting, well-written characters, and a great plot with moving themes. I would recommend it for everyone, not just soccer fans.

Last chance to watch before reading on. Consider this your final spoiler warning......

As I said, Ted Lasso is an incredible show, but this specific scene really stuck with me. Check it out

Lasso's message in that scene is a powerful one.

"Be curious not judgmental." - Ted Lasso quoting Walt Whitman in S1: Ep 8 - The Diamond Dogs | Ted Lasso

I was never personally underestimated or felt like people have judged me harshly. Yet, this quote struck a chord within me. I realized that throughout my day, I make so many snap judgments on peoeple I see. Without ever knowing or speaking to someone, I inherently form some bias about who they are. I sure I am not alone in this either.

Who am I to judge someone without knowing them? I could instead gain something from actually understanding someone.

I believe this world could use more curiosity and less judgment. Learn from one another and appreciate others around you. Go and be curious.
